Recruiting: Juco OL has an early leader

Junior College offensive lineman Brandon Walker talks about his upcoming visits and interest in OU.

JH: Where are you at on your visit schedule?

BW: "My last visit was to Oklahoma and this week I go to Illinois."

JH: So Oklahoma is the only school that you have visited thus far?

BW: "Yes sir."

JH: Are you talking to coaches on a regular basis?

BW: "I have seen a couple of coaches this week. I have seen Coach (Kevin) Wilson from Oklahoma, Coach (Joe) Wickline from Oklahoma State and I saw head coach Phillip Fulmer this week. Also, Arizona State came by as well."

JH: Now that you have visited Oklahoma and are talking to coaches, what are your thoughts on recruiting?

BW: "There is a lot happening right now. Everything is going real fast. I would say that Oklahoma is at the top and everybody else is close behind."

JH: What is it about Oklahoma that has them in front right now?

BW: "It is the atmosphere and the players at Oklahoma that sets them apart. I liked the gameday atmosphere at the day of the game. All the fans are great and they had nice fan support the whole time."

JH: Does the fact that OU has such a need for offensive linemen in their program play much of a role in your decision?

BW: "I think there is opportunity everywhere. Every team that is recruiting me desperately needs offensive linemen. I don't know if Oklahoma is in any more of a tough situation as any other school, because every school that is recruiting me needs offensive lineman. It is Oklahoma that needs linemen, if you know what I mean. You just can't pass up Oklahoma."

JH: Will this be your first time to see Illinois in any capacity?

BW: "It is my first time ever up there."

JH: What is the rest of your visit schedule?

BW: "I am going to Arizona State on December 16, and I have Michigan State and Oklahoma State set up in January."
