Recruiting: OU loses four-star to Texas

Schertz, Texas RB/DB James Henry says distance is the reason for the switch.

James Henry, RB, SHERTZ SAMUEL CLEMENS, TEXAS:

OUIn: How was your visit to Texas?

JH: "I had a great time and enjoyed it a lot. It was fun to go somewhere else and take my grandparents so that we could see another school. I really enjoyed myself."

OUIn: So what is your status in recruiting?

JH: "I have de-committed from Oklahoma and I am committing to Texas because of location and my family. Texas is just so much closer to my family that they can drive up to see me play, and they couldn't do that at Oklahoma. Oklahoma has a great program and they are going to be real good over the next couple of years, but the fact that UT is so much closer to my family makes Texas a better situation for me."

OUIn: Did you talk to the Oklahoma coaches about it?

JH: "Yes sir. And they were very good to me about it. They said they understand all the considerations that I had to make and that they felt I made the right one for me."

OUIn: Do you find it interesting that you are switching from Oklahoma and Texas, and both those schools are such big rivals?

JH: "This had nothing to do with the rivalry or who the better school was. This just came down to my family and their ability to come and watch me play and my ability to be close to them."

OUIn: What position is Texas recruiting you to play?

JH: "They are recruiting me to play safety. They have a lot of good running backs on their roster, but it doesn't matter to me where I play because the recruiting class is so strong. I just want to get on the field, and wherever I can do that is where I want to play."
