The Paris Twins combined for 25 points and 26 rebounds and Chelsi Welch tied her career high with 23, as No. 18 Oklahoma began Big 12 play with an impressive 87-67 road win over Iowa State Wednesday night in Ames.
The Sooners jumped on the Cyclones from the opening tip with a 7-0 run and never looked back. The win also snapped ISU's 21-game home winning streak.
Courtney Paris finished with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Ashley Paris scored 10 points and grabbed 13 boards. It was the first career double-double for Ashley and the 11th of the season for Courtney, which leads the NCAA.
Welch, who scored 20 points in OU's win over New Mexico, was hot again hitting four of her five 3-point attempts, while Britney Brown dished a game-high eight assists.
Erin Higgins, who finished with 15 points, also joined the Sooners' 3-point party hitting five of her nine attemtps from beyond the arc.
In all, Oklahoma hit a season-high 13 3-pointers.
With the win, the Sooners improved to 11-3 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play. The Cyclones fell to 9-3 and 0-1.
Next up for the Sooners is the Big 12 home opener against Colorado on Saturday. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.
