Recruiting: Sooners land Texas defensive end

Texas DE chooses Sooners over Texas A&M and UCLA.

Adrian Taylor, DE, 6-4, 260 MANSFIELD, TEXAS:

JH: Have you made a decision where you are going to play your college football? Also, when did you make this decision?

AT: "I have decided to play my college football at Oklahoma. I made that decision last night. I didn't see any reason why I didn't want to go to Oklahoma. I have been up there and loved everything about it and I just decided that Oklahoma was where I wanted to play."

JH: What was it that you liked best about Oklahoma?

AT: "I liked the fact they had coaches who were straight up, and I liked the location."

JH: What kind of season did you have? Have you found out what your stats were?

AT: "I still don't know what my stats where, and we didn't have the season that we wanted to have. We lost a close game and missed out in getting into the playoffs. We lost 28-21 and that just was a heartbreaker. So, we didn't reach our goals and because of that our season was not successful. Individually, I did pretty well. I played all three positions on the defensive line, but my primary position is defensive end."

JH: Are you being recruited to play defensive end at OU?

AT: "Yes, I am going to play defensive end at OU."

JH: What honors did you earn this past year?

AT: "I did earn first team all-district at defensive line and I was named the District 4-5A Defensive Player of the Year. At my school, I was named the defensive lineman of the year."

JH: Who did you chose the Sooners over?

AT: "I picked Oklahoma over Texas A&M and UCLA."

JH: Have you been a lean to OU for some time?

AT: "I had kept them at the top of my list at the beginning and they were just good to me during recruiting. Coach (Jackie) Shipp was honest and a good man to talk to. The more I thought about them the more I realized I wanted to play at Oklahoma."
