Recruiting: Gibbs down to OU, Oregon

Juco DT Jeremy Gibbs talks about his final two schools and when he might make his decision.

Jeremy Gibbs, DT, 6-4, 285, NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M JC:

JH: What is the latest in recruiting with you?

JG: "Right now I have my choices down to two schools — OU and Oregon — and I am trying to make a decision between those two schools. I have taken all of my visits and now just have to make a decision between those two schools."

JH: Did you open up your recruiting again because you didn't like something about OU or did you just want to see some other schools?

JG: "I just wanted to see some other schools. It wasn't anything that I didn't like about OU. I just felt I needed to see some other schools, and when I visited Oregon I really liked what I saw out there and I really liked their situation."

JH: I know we still call you a soft commitment, but in reality it is just a fact that you are trying to decide between OU and Oregon?

JG: "Yes, that is the reality of it. I am trying to decide between OU and Oregon."

JH: What is your gut feeling on the two schools as we speak?

JG: "Man, I like them both. They are too close to call right now."

JH: What is going to be the most important aspect when you make your final decision?

JG: "Right now I am thinking about where I can go in and be the most successful. Which school is going to allow me to go in right away and prove myself? At Oregon, I like the fact when I found out that Haloti (Ngata) left I really like that. But what it ultimately comes down is that mom knows best. My mom is going to play a big role in it. Oklahoma lost both Remi Ayodele and Dusty Dvoracek, so I like my situation there as well."

JH: Is distance a factor with you at all?

JG: "Distance is really no factor."

JH: When do you think you will make up your mind?

JG: "I think by late next week I will have my decision."
