Neal, three other Sooners honored by Big 12

Junior guard Michael Neal (pictured above) brought home the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Award on Monday. Neal, a 6-foot-3 junior, led the league in 3-point percentage and set a Big 12 record for 3-point field goals made per game with an average of 3.9.

Oklahoma junior guard Michael Neal was one of four Sooners to be honored by the Big 12 on Monday.

Neal, a 6-foot-3 shooting guard from Mesquite, Texas, won the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year Award, which was selected by the conference's coaches.

With Neal in the lineup, Oklahoma posted an 11-3 conference record. Without him, they were 0-2.

Neal was OU's leading scorer in Big 12 play (14.8 ppg) and led the conference in 3-point field goal percentage (.495). Overall, he was second on the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game. He also led the Big 12 in 3-pointers made per game (3.9), which is a new conference record.

In addition to Neal, seniors Taj Gray and Terrell Everett were honored with a spot on the All-Big 12 second team. Neal and senior Kevin Bookout earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors.

Neal also made the Big 12 All-Rookie team, while Gray earned a spot on the All-Defensive team.

On Monday night, the Sooners held their annual awards banquet. Below is a list of the awards handed out at the banquet.
