The Matchup
The 9th-seeded Cyclones advanced to Wednesday's quarterfinal matchup against Oklahoma with a 72-68 first round win over No. 8 Texas on Tuesday.

The Sooners, who come in to the Big 12 Tourney riding a 14-game winning streak, beat the Cyclones 87-67 on January 4 in Ames. Chelsi Welch led five Sooners in double figures with 23 points. Courtney Paris added 15 points and 13 rebounds, while her twin sister Ashley also finished with a double-double — 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Iowa State is led by junior guard Lyndsey Medders, who was an All-Big 12 First Team selection by the coaches. Medders is 8th in the league in scoring (17.1) and first in assists (7.8). However, she finished with just 12 points, three assists and five turnovers in ISU's loss to OU earlier in the season.

The Sooners are making their third appearance in the Big 12 Tourney as the No. 1 seed. They are 5-1 as the top seed, but 0-1 all-time against Iowa State in the Big 12 Tournament.

Sherri Coale on Iowa State
"They're capable of getting on a roll and really giving you problems in terms of shooting the ball. I think when Lyndsey Medders is healthy, they're a different team. She was healthy when we played them early in the year, but I think one of the reasons they incurred some of those losses was the absence of her. She makes them obviously a different team and you've got to shoot well against Iowa State. That's how you beat them.
