Recruiting: Washington has 30 offers

Sugarland, Texas defensive end Tim Washington may be headed out of Texas. Does OU have a shot?

Washington is another tremendous defensive end prospect in Texas this year and don't sell him short, he may be the best of the bunch. Washington hasn't received as much publicity as some of the others, but that doesn't mean he isn't a great player.

Washington will start for the third straight year this season at defensive end, while also playing a little tight end and handling the punting duties.

"Statistics aren't a big deal at our school, but I do know that I finished last season with 12 sacks," said Washington. "I think I averaged 34 yards per punt as well. I feel I am a very good pass rusher and that is what I excel at. I use my hands and my quickness and instincts are usually better than my opponent on the field."

Washington can bench 345 pounds, squats 430 and he has posted a 33.5 vertical jump. Washington attended the NIKE camp at Texas A&M a year ago, but this season he has stayed home and worked out with his team.

Washington likes Miami, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and several others.

"I really like the state of Florida and Ohio State has always been a team I thought was a great football program," said Washington. I have a little interest in Oklahoma, but I really don't know a lot about them. They are one of the other schools that I have an interest in that I am still trying to figure things about. I like how the Florida schools play defense and they are always playing in big games. All three of them produce some very good players. However, I really don't have a favorite and I am still gathering information."

Washington has offers from all the schools mentioned and a total of 30. Washington is still looking to qualify, but he is close.
