Christian Scott, S, 6'1, 195, 4.4, DALLAS (SKYLINE HS), TEXAS:
Christian Scott is one of those pure safety types that college coaches love. He can control the back end of the secondary, yet he can drop down and latch onto a receiver and cover him like a corner. Scott is regarded as one of the top safety prospects in Texas and one of the very best in the country as well.
He broke into the starting line-up at Skyline his sophomore year and that carried on to last season where he finished with 84 tackles and four interceptions. Scott also doubled at wide receiver and running back. He scored three touchdowns as a receiver, five as a running back and he returned one interception 80-yards for a touchdown.
"I think safety is my best position," said Scott. "I think I can play just about any position. This year I am going to play quarterback and I think I will also play safety on defense. I am looking forward to playing quarterback this year, but I know I am going to play safety in college."
Scott runs the 4X100 (second leg), 4X200 (third) and 4X400 (third) and he participates in the high jump (6'6) and triple jump (45). Scott has never attended a football camp, but he hopes to attend the camps at OU and Florida State this summer.
He has been offered by 15 different schools and is still in the process of looking through them all.
"Right now OU, LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, Baylor and Florida are schools that are at the top of my list," said Scott. "I really think Coach (Chris) Wilson is a great guy from Oklahoma. He is also a great I enjoy talking too. I also like Coach Munken from LSU. I really enjoy talking to all the coaches."
It is obvious that the coaches certainly have made a great impression with Scott, and that includes Coach Wilson at OU. However, there has to be more that Scott is looking for out or a program like Oklahoma.
"Oklahoma is a great program that is close to home," said Scott. "I am a big fan of some of the athletes that go there now. I have watched and been very impressed with Adrian Peterson. He is a fantastic player. OU has a great program and they only recruit great athletes. I am proud that they have offered me."
What will the main points of interest that Scott is looking for in recruiting?
"Playing time is going to be the main thing for me and the depth chart and how many players are going to be at my position," Scott said. "I will also be looking into academics and the kind of academic program that they have. Distance form home is going to be a big factor for me."
Scott will take his ACT in June.
