Recruiting: Bixby LB/DE piling up offers

Bixby, Okla. linebacker/defensive end Jared Glover Profile.

Jared Glover, LB/DE, 6'4 ½, 220, 4.7, BIXBY, OKLAHOMA:

Jared Glover is a very active and versatile player who can play both outside linebacker and defensive end. In fact, out of the eight schools that have offered him thus far, they are split half and half on where he will play at the next level."

"I have never played defensive end, so I really don't know much about the position," said Glover. "Linebacker just seems to me like it is so much more fun. You have to cover more of the field, you have more open field tackling and you have more responsibility. I just feel like linebacker is where I fit best on the field."

Glover started at tight end as a sophomore, but last season he added outside linebacker to his resume. On defense, Glover finished with 91 tackles, 30 tackles for loss and 21 sacks out of a defense where he blitzes 60 to 70 percent of the time. On offense, Bixby didn't throw the ball much, but Glover still managed to catch 15 passes for 209 yards and one touchdown.

Glover can bench 310 pounds, squat 450 and he has posted a 34-inch vertical jump.

"I gave up basketball because I couldn't gain any weight," said Glover. "I came out of last season weighing just 190 pounds and I had to put on some weight. So, I just concentrated on the weight room and I put on 30 pounds. I would have never been able to do that if I continued to play basketball."

Glover has never attended a summer camp, but he will attend as many as he can this summer.

"I want to try to get make it to my top five at least this summer," said Glover. "I like Nebraska, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arkansas and Texas A&M. I hope to make it to those five schools for sure this summer."

Do the Sooners have a chance to eventually crack his top five?

"I grew up an Oklahoma fan, but right now I don't have an offer from OU and I can't consider a school that I don't have an offer from," said Glover, who also has offers from Colorado State, Michigan State and SMU. "I went up to Oklahoma a couple of months ago on an unofficial visit, but since they haven't offered me I can't really think about them too much. I have concentrate on the eight schools that have offered. I don't have a favorite."

A great student, Glover scored a 29 on his ACT and he has a 4.6 GPA. He plans on pre-med in college.
