Sooners Announce 2007 Football Schedule

Norman — The 2006 season may still be 73 days away, but the 2007 schedule is already in the books. Headlining the non-confernece slate for Bob Stoops and the Sooners is Miami, who the Sooners will play in Norman on September 8.

The Sooners and Hurricanes, who are first (Oklahoma) and third (Miami) in wins since 2000, have not met since a 1987 matchup in the Orange Bowl and in Norman since 1985. The Hurricanes lead the overall series 3-2.

The season opener will be against North Texas on September 1 in Norman. OU will also play Utah State on Owen Field on September 15 and travel to Tulsa on September 22 to complete the non-conference slate.

"These games fit our philosophy of providing a challenging, yet balanced schedule that prepares our team for the rigors of Big 12 Conference play and a run at post season championships," said OU Athletics Director Joe Castiglione in an press release on

"The process becomes a little more challenging each year, but we are always working to complete our scheduling in a timely fashion to give our campus and fans the appropriate time to plan events.
