Hoops: Capel lands West Virginia wing

Chris Early, a 6-foot-7 wing player who plays for the popluar Boo Williams AAU summer squad, gave his verbal to the OU coaching staff during his visit to Norman today shortly before heading to the airport.

James Hale and OUInsider.com has learned that Huntington, West Virginia wing prospect Chris Early did indeed commit to Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Early, a 6-foot-7 wing player who plays for the popluar Boo Williams AAU summer squad, gave his verbal to the OU coaching staff during his visit to Norman today shortly before heading to the airport.

Scout.com hoops recruiting expert Dave Telep had this to say about Early late this afternoon.

"Early is a kid with a great wing body. He's come on since the spring. He's a better perimeter player and he's got that strong, athletic frame. Right now he projects as a rotation guy for the Sooners with upside."

Early is currently on a plane flying back home to West Virginia, but we will have more on his commitment, including quotes, later this evening.

One other interesting note is that Early is an AAU teammate of another top prospect, Patrick Patterson from Huntington, West Virgina. The Sooners are hoping to get a visit from the 6-foot-8, 234-pounder in August or September.

Patterson is currently ranked as the 36th-best prospect in the land by Telep and Scout.com. Early has yet to crack the top 100.
