Ben Bass, DE, 6-4, 260, PLANO (WEST HS), TX:

JH: How is your summer going?

BB: "Summer is going fine, I guess. I did some summer school so that I could get some of my classes out of the way and not have take but one class my senior year. I got Government Economics out of the way this summer and that is one of the toughest classes that we have to talk. Now I just have an English class and that is all I need graduate. I also just got back from an unofficial visit to Texas A&M."

JH: Are you going to graduate at semester?

BB: "I could do that by taking both my English class during the first semester, but I think I am just going to take one in each semester and just enjoy my senior year."

JH: Did you meet your goals in the off-season this summer?

BB: "I got to lift three times a week. I went into workouts at 255 and came out at 265, so I gained 10 pounds of muscle. I want to get strong, faster and gain a little weight. I want to be to play longer harder this year.

JH: What did you think of your unofficial visit to Texas A&M?

BB: "We toured the campus and I like the facilities. I saw some classrooms and also the football facility. They have some of the top facilities that I have seen. I watched one of their lifting workouts and it seemed like the strength and conditioning coach was really into what they were doing. He was really watching how they execute and wanted them to succeed.

"They are recruiting me to play defensive end. Last year they only recruited one defensive end, and this year I am the only one they are recruiting, maybe they have another one or two. They tell me if I go to Texas A&M that they will prepare me to play, but they won't play me if I am not needed. They will let me play if I want to, but if they feel I need a little more work then they will let me redshirt."

JH: What is your recruiting situation right now?

BB: "Right I am down to two schools. I am down to OU and Texas A&M. Those are pretty much my last two schools."

JH: What is it you like about OU?

BB: "I like what I see from Oklahoma. I like the coaches, coaching staff and I like the facilities. I like how they have competed the last couple of years. It just seems like they are a pretty solid program. I talked to Oklahoma two days ago and talked to Coach (Josh) Heupel."

JH: What position is Oklahoma recruiting you for?

BB: "Oklahoma is recruiting me as an athlete. They say they are not sure if I am an offensive tackle or defensive end. I think I will play defensive end, but it doesn't really matter to me. If I get stuck at offensive tackle that will be OK. Or if I have to lose weight and play outside linebacker that will be OK with me."

JH: What is it your like about Texas A&M?

BB: "It is just the way I fit in around the coaches. I like the coaches and I like the players that are there right now. They seem to be the kind of players who will keep you up and try to make you better. They aren't the kind of guys who will always try to replace you. Tthey will work with you to get better."

JH: Are you leaning to either school right now?

BB: "Right now I am leaning more towards Texas A&M. I am going to make a final decision in the next two to three weeks."
