Below are comments from some of the OU players from Media Day on the naming of Paul Thompson as the starter:

Adrian Peterson: We are going to be just fine with Paul back there. He has everyone's respect and he will go out and impress a lot of people. Our offense will not change much and I don't see us missing a beat.

Marcus Walker: Paul is one of the veteran leaders on our team. We are ready to rally around Paul and keep this train moving.

Joe Jon Finley: I have caught balls from him plenty before. It won't be different for me or any other receiver out there. I think when he switched to wide receiver he learned a lot about running to areas and getting open. That will help him now that he is back at QB and it will allow him to see what we see. I couldn't feel more comfortable with him back there.

Quenitn Chaney: I am excited and ready to get going. I know personally that I didn't play up to my standards last year and I think that Paul will help me and we will succeed together.

Juaquin Iglesias: Paul has been a leader here for a long time. We all have the greatest respect for him. He accepted a responsibility that he didn't have to. He told us to get on his back and he will lead us to the top. I know that he can do it. All we have to do is get open and he will find us. Paul will get the job done.

Reggie Smith: I think Paul has a great attitude. He just needs to knock the rust off a little bit and he will be fine. Last year he and Rhett were said to be the same. I don't know, but I know that Paul will do a great job back there and we as a team have tremendous confidence in him.

D.J. Wolfe: Paul is a great team player, great competitor, and a great person. He told us yesterday that he was going to take us to the top and to come with him. That got the whole team fired up. It'ss our job as a team to rally around him and do our part to make this team what it has the potential to be.

Jacob Gutierrez: Paul is one of the most respected players on the team. I have nothing but respect for the man for the things he has done in his career here and he has a great personality and has a positive influence as a teammate. I know the transition will be positive because of his attitude. He has been nothing but incouraging since this situation happened.

Rufus Alexander: You have to make the transition. It's not something that you plan to do but things just happen. I am glad that we had Paul here to pick us up and lead us. He is a great leader and what better position to have a great leader at than QB. Paul will do what he needs to do to get us there, we just need to make sure we get our three and outs to get him the ball back.

C.J. Ah You: We are ready to strap it on and ride him to the top. He is a gifted athlete and he has been blessed with all the abilities you need to succeed. We are still Oklahoma and we will play like Oklahoma should play. Paul will get it done.

Larry Birdine: 'Paul Tall' is the man to lead us. If the coaches can put all their faith and trust in him then we can too. I supported him last year and I know that things didn't work out for Paul at QB, but he was still a tremendous leader at receiver. When I went down with my injury, he was always pushing me and keeping me straight. We will be just fine with him in the huddle.
