Florida QB interested in Sooners?

Tampa, Fla. four-star quarterback Stephen Garcia profile and update. Garica is currently ranked as the 15th-best QB in the nation by Scout.com.

In a great year for quarterbacks, Stephen Garcia ranks as the 15th-best quarterback in the country according to Scout.com. Blessed with tremendous ability, Garcia is a two-year starter who has been a dominating performer in every game he has played.

"I think I can play every single snap. And if all else fails, I can make something happen. That is just the competitive nature that I have. I think that desire is what makes me a good quarterback. If the play breaks down or I have to scramble, I am going to do that and eventually make something happen."

Garcia threw for 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns his sophomore year and pumped that up to 2,800 yards and 29 touchdowns his junior year operating out of a passing offense.

"I have only run one offense all my life. We run the spread-I and that is what I feel the most comfortable in. But I can run any offense. The type of offense is not going to be an issue."

Garcia can bench 325 pounds, squats 405 and he has posted a 29.3 vertical. Garcia also starts in hoops averaging 13 points per game. At this point, Garcia has been offered by 20 some schools.

"It is pretty much Florida, South Carolina and Ole Miss. But I haven't talked to Ole Miss in some time so I am not sure what they are thinking."

But Garcia admits that he has paid attention to what is happening at Oklahoma.

"Tthat is something that I would look at, but Oklahoma has never contacted me at all. That is something that I would definitely look at. They are the top program in the country and when you hear what is going on with their quarterback situation, that has to be something that I pay attention to."

Garcia admits that he is evaluating the depth chart of all the schools that he is considering.

"Oh yeah, definitely. I would like to play early, but I don't want to force the issue. I am very confident in myself and my abilities. Anybody would tell you that. I would be very confident, to be honest, that I could handle it. Once I learned the offense and calls I would feel very good about it."

So when does Garcia hope to make a decision?

"I am not really sure about when I am going to announce. I have a feeling it is going to come pretty soon, but I am not sure what I am going to do. Florida and South Carolina are pretty much my top two right now."

Garcia has qualified.
