Will four-star QB Newton visit Norman?

Atlanta, Ga. dual-threat quarterback Cameron Newton talks about says he'll announce his decision on Sept. 8. Will the Sooners get a visit before the decision? Newton answers that question and more inside...

Cameron Newton, QB, 6-5, 225, ATLANTA (WESTLAKE HS), GEORGIA:

JH: Have you set a date to announce your decision since we last talked?

CN: "I talked to my father and he said that it was my best move right now. He said he didn't want me to have that pressure going into my senior year and that he wanted me to not worry about anything but performing on the field. So I am going to decide on September 8th."

JH: What schools are in the running for your decision?

CN: "I am deciding from Georgia, Florida, LSU, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Oklahoma and Maryland."

JH: Have you visited all of those schools?

CN: "Not yet. I have only seen Georgia, Florida and South Carolina. I am going to try to get to the other schools that I haven't seen."

JH: Have you talked to Oklahoma yet?

CN: "I sure have. Absolutely. I talked Coach (Josh) Heupel last night. He told me the situation that they were in and he told me that they were going to try to get me down there."

JH: Have you set a date for a visit to OU?

CN: "I haven't set a date with Oklahoma yet on a visit, but I am supposed to talk to Oklahoma again later this week. We play our first game on September 1st and then I think I will be taking a visit that weekend. I also plan to visit the other schools that I haven't seen yet, so I am going to be a busy man over the next couple of weeks. Obviously, I can't see them all so I have to make some decisions pretty soon."

JH: What happens if you haven't had a chance to see all the schools by the time you want to announce? Would you still commit to a school that you haven't visited?

CN: "If I really want to see that school and haven't had a chance to see it yet, then I am going to push the date back."

JH: Is it safe to say that you are going to visit OU before you make your decision?

CN: "Yes sir."
