JIMMY SUTTON, WR, 6'0, 175, 4.45, DEL RAY BEACH BOCA ROTAN, FLORIDA:
Talk about a gamebreaker, Sutton has all the ingredients of one of those who guys make defensive backs shake in their cleats.
Sutton has been a major factor for his high school team since his freshman year when he lettered in the secondary at Olympic Heights High School in Boca Rotan, Florida.
Sutton moved to Boca High his sophomore year where he started both ways at wide receiver and cornerback and he continued on both sides of the ball last season.
Sutton was outstanding a year ago catching 26 passes at 22.6 yards per catch and six touchdowns. On defense, Sutton intercepted one interception and broke up nine other passes.
"I wasn't the leader on our team on defense and I had a better offensive year," said Sutton. "I like offense better because at wide receiver I think I can demonstrate what kind of athletic ability that I really have."
Sutton can bench 275 pounds and posted a 35 ½ vertical jump at the Nike Camp in Miami. Sutton camped at Texas and North Carolina and came away really liking Texas.
"At the Texas camp I did fantastic," said Sutton. "I got to go against great athletes and many of them would come back to me and tell me how I did. They all told me that they were impressed by my speed and my ability to get open. That made me really respect them and how good I really am."
Sutton liked Texas so much that he has decided to cast his lot with the Longhorns.
"I was so impressed with Texas and wide receiver coach Darryl Drake that I committed to them about a week go," said Sutton. "I know that I haven't looked at any other schools, but I just feel so comfortable with Texas that I just feel it is the right place for me.
"However, I am open to taking visits and giving other schools some opportunities. I plan on visiting Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Michigan State and Pittsburgh. I want to visit teams that are going to throw the football. I want to give those other schools a shot and I think I owe it to myself to see what else is out there."
Sutton is still looking to qualify.
