Georiga guard back from Norman

Norcross, Ga. combo guard Tony Neysmith talks about his trip to Norman.

Tony Neysmith, PG, 6-3, 190, NORCROSS, GEORGIA:

JH: Are you a combo guard or a pure point guard?

TN: "I think I am a point guard. I can play the two, but I think I am a point guard."

JH: What did you think of your unofficial visit to OU?

TN: "It was a real nice campus and the players were receptive and cool. The coaches were cool and I really liked the facilities."

JH: What did you learn about OU that you didn't know before?

TN: "I have watched Oklahoma a lot, but I didn't know what the campus was like. I didn't know some of their history or anything like that. I learned a lot about their education and all that."

JH: Did you commit to OU on the trip or come close?

TN: "I didn't commit, but I have a high interest in Oklahoma. Oklahoma has always been good, but I never thought they would be recruiting me. Once Coach (Jeff) Capel and his staff took over they started to recruit me."

JH: What schools are involved in your recruiting?

TN: "The three schools that I am really looking at are UNC-Charlotte, St. Johns and Oklahoma. I went to St. John's before I went to Oklahoma. It was a little small, but it was pretty nice."

JH: Did you visit UNC-Charlotte?

TN: "It was lot nicer that I expected. I didn't know anything about UNC-Charlotte, but I knew it was in a nice area and I think they have a very good basketball program. They have had a lot of success the last two years, and they have success sending players to the pros."

JH: Do you have a leader at this point?

TN: "I don't have a leader right now, but I am going to think things over. I will have a thought who might be leading in a couple of days."

JH: What did you average this past year?

TN: "I averaged 12 to 13, and then 17 points this summer. I started playing on the varsity my eighth grade year, then I started the last three years."

JH: How would you describe your game?

TN: "I am big, tough and a very physical player. I do a good job of setting up my teammates, and I can get to the rim. My size is an advantage for me and I am a match-up problem for everybody that we face. I need to work on my jumpshot, but I am working on that and it will be better in the future. I am real athletic and have good jumping ability, which makes me a good rebounding guard. There was one game last year where I had 16 rebounds."
