RECRUITING: Top QB to swing through Norman

California QB Tommy Grady talks about his upcoming unofficial vists and his interest in OU

JH: I understand you are getting ready to take a whirlwind tour of several schools in the next couple of weeks in your effort to decide where you want to go to school?

TG: We went down and looked at all of our offers and at all the top schools and decided to put together a couple of weeks of recruiting trips so that we can make our decision before the start of our first game the first week in September. These are going to be unofficial visits, so we are paying for everything. If nothing really clicks with any particular school, then I would probably wait to make my decision and take official visits after the season.

JH: What schools are you going to visit?

TG: Florida State, Miami, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, LSU, UCLA and USC.

JH: Would you prefer to go out of state?

TG: I think I might go out of state. It has nothing to do with the state of California, but the fact that I really like a number or schools out of state.

JH: How many days will you stay with each school?

TG: We are virtually going to see each school one day. We are going to fly to Miami and drive to the Florida schools. Then we are going to fly to LSU and fly to the other schools.

JH: Are you leaning anywhere as you get ready to take your visits?

TG: All are pretty even. I have read where I am leaning to Florida State or Miami, but that is not necessarily true.

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma?

TG: I really like them and they have a great coaching staff. OU gets some good quarterbacks in there and they have one of the best offensive coordinators and quarterback coaches in Chuck Long.

JH: What will you base your decision on?

TG: I think it is going to be the kind of feeling that I get when I get around them. All of these schools have an offense that I can do well in, so it is going to come down to how I really feel at those schools.

JH: When does the trip take place?

TG: We leave August 10th and we will be done on the 18th. My dad is going with me. He will have to be my wide receiver on this trip when we work out. He has pretty good hands, he has caught a few passes before.

JH: I understand you had a great Elite 11 camp, what did you come away with from the camp?

TG: I went in there try to learn all I could and from what I understand I had a pretty good camp. I was totally satisfied with how it went.
