Recruiting: Sooners still pursuing Kansas DE

The latest on Lawrence, Kan. defensive end Christian Ballard.

Christian Ballard, DE/OL, 6-4, 275, LAWRENCE (FREE STATE HS), KANSAS:

JH: How is your season going thus far?

CB: "We are 2-0 right now. I am playing tight end and defensive tackle. Things are going alright for me. I am learning a new position on defense, and at tight end it is the same as last year. I still have some work to do, but I am getting better. Playing defensive tackle is pretty hard, but I am beginning to play better."

JH: Are you guys winning pretty easily right now?

CB: "We have won pretty easily so far."

JH: Now that coaches can call you again, what schools have you heard from?

CB: "I have heard from all the schools that have offered a scholarship. I have heard from Iowa and Georgia the most. I am hearing from Oklahoma a little bit too. I am also hearing from Kansas and Kansas State."

JH: You are being recruited a defensive end, tight end and offensive lineman, but you are playing defensive tackle in high school. That has to be strange for you?

CB: "It is pretty hard. I am learning a lot, but it is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I am making adjustments, and as long as I keep working hard I am going to be good there."

JH: What are your thoughts on recruiting and Oklahoma at this time?

CB: "They are still a pretty good school. We will see what happens in the future. I have been watching them on TV and checking them out. Kansas and Georgia are locked down for visits and Oklahoma and Michigan are up in the air. I like both of those schools and we will see where it goes."
