Recruiting: Sooners evaluating Norman star

Norman, Okla. WR/DB Ryan Broyles talks about season, recruiting list and interest in Oklahoma.

Ryan Broyles, WR/CB, 5-11, 170, NORMAN, OKLAHOMA:

JH: Congratulations on Norman having a great season so far.

RB: "We are definitely doing a lot better than we did last year. We had a great team last year, but we are working more as a team this year. I am excited about the games that we have coming up. I am looking forward to the Midwest City game. That is going to be a task for us because they have so much team speed. We just watched film of them and they were very impressive."

JH: You are doing a lot of things for the Tigers this year, aren't you?

RB: "I am playing running back and I am splitting out at receiver. The last game against Choctaw, I had eight catches for 186 yards and I rushed for 36 yards and two touchdowns. I also blocked a field goal, so it as a great all-around game for me. I also start at free safety."

JH: What position are you being recruited for by most of the teams that have offered you?

RB: "I am not sure. It is up in the air right now. A lot of teams are offering me as a receiver and a corner. I like both and it will just come down to which gives me the best opportunity to be play because I can both pretty well."

JH: What is the latest in recruiting?

RB: "I still have the same offers than I had back in the summer from South Carolina, Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Kansas, Michigan State, Vanderbilt and Iowa State."

JH: Do you have a leader at this point?

RB: "No, I am still keeping an open mind."

JH: Are you talking to OU at all?

RB: "Yeah I am talking to Oklahoma. I have been keeping in contact with Coach (Cale) Gundy. They are still evaluating me. They want me at receiver and they have been getting film of me each game."

JH: You are playing safety this year, but aren't a number of schools recruiting you as a cornerback?

RB: "I played cornerback my sophomore and junior year, but I moved to safety this year."

JH: Haven't you already taken a couple of visits?

RB: "I took one to Texas A&M on September 2nd and that visit went pretty well. There is a lot of tradition down there. Everybody loves football at Texas A&M. They are looking at me at cornerback on defense. Michigan and Tennessee are also looking at me on defense."

JH: Didn't you take one more?

RB: "I did have a visit set up to South Carolina on September 20th, but all the flight times got messed up. We have rescheduled that visit on October 28th. I am also thinking about going to Texas Tech, but I haven't finalized a date yet."

JH: Do South Carolina and Texas Tech want you at receiver?

RB: "That is correct."
