Dallas, Texas -- Adrian Peterson got his 100 yards for the fifth-straight game this season, but it wasn't enough to push 13th-ranked Oklahoma past No. 7 Texas at the Cotton Bowl Saturday in Dallas.

Oklahoma scored 10 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a 10-7 halftime lead, but the Longhorns responded with 21 straight of their own in the second half to knock off the Sooners for the second straight year, 28-10.

The Sooners actually outgained the Longhorns 333-232 in the total yardage category, but five turnovers — two interceptions and three fumbles — and 11 penalties for 75 yards proved to be much too overcome. Texas, on the other hand, did not turn the ball over and were only called for three penalties.

Peterson, who came into the game third in the nation in rushing averaging 160.75 yards per game, was held to just 109 yards on 25 carries. He also added 94 yards in kickoff returns, 10 receiving yards and a 29-yard touchdown run in the second quarter that tied the game at 7-7..

The Longhorns also did a nice job covering sophomore receiver Malcolm Kelly. Kelly, who came into the game averaging 94.75 receving yards per game, finished with just two catches for 29 yards.

Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was just 11-of-18 for for 107 yards, but he did throw touchdown passes on back-to-back passes drives that helped the Longhorns extend the lead from down 10-7 to up 21-10 with 2:46 to go in the third quarter.

The Sooners then looked as if they were going to cut into Texas' lead early in the fourth quarter, but Juaquin Iglesias fumbled at the Longhorn 16-yard line after catching a 24-yard pass from Paul Thompson.

Thompson finished 14-of-26 for 198 yards, but threw two late fourth quarter interceptions.

As for the defense, they held the Longhorns 20 points under their season scoring average and 180 yards less than their total offense yardage average, yet it wasn't enough.

Texas extended their winning streak to 17 games against Big 12 opponents and now own a 57-39-5 edge in the all-time series against Oklahoma. Longhorn head coach Mack Brown is now 4-5 overall against the Sooners and 3-5 against OU head coach Bob Stoops.
