On the loss
Stoops: It was pretty simple, really. Turnovers and penalties. Give Texas credit. They played an excellent second half and they took care of the ball and we didn't. We had, what, five or six turnovers and the didn't have any. It's pretty evident, too, that we hurt ourselves in both the first and second halves with penalties. It's frustrating. It really is. You've gotta have discipline to take care of the football and also to not have penalties.
On the fact that there were positive things for Oklahoma on both sides of the ball
Stoops: Absolutely. And the defense, for a large part of the game played well, then they would give up a big play and suddenly it turned into a score.
The same thing with the offense. We move the ball and then we don't take care of the ball in key situations.
On the job the offensive line did in pass protection
Stoops: I was very pleased with it. There were a lot of good parts to the game. That's what makes the turnovers so frustrating. We lost points when we were in close and we gave them points and suddenly, that's what it is... 28-10.
I thought Paul made some nice throws and was solid, but we just had too many mistakes.
On if he thinks the Sooners will rebound from the loss quickly as they continue Big12 play
Stoops: I do. We understand that this is just our first Big12 game and we have a long season in front of us and it's all in the Big12. We need to build on the the good points of the day and we have to correct those mistakes that we made as we continue the season.
