Hoops Recruiting: Barnes down to three

Riverdale, Ga. forward Chris Barnes talks about his visit to Norman and final three.

JH: What did you think about your visit to OU?

CB: "I really enjoyed it and liked it a lot."

JH: What did you like most about it?

CB: "I enjoyed hanging out with the players and the coaches. I enjoyed just seeing the state of Oklahoma itself, because that was the first time I have been to Oklahoma."

JH: Did you get a chance to see the campus much? And if so. what did you think of the campus?

CB: "I thought they had a pretty nice campus. I met a couple of people there and they were very nice. I liked the fact that all the classes seemed to be close together."

JH: Did you get a chance to watch the Sooners practice?

CB: "I watched them practice and I think they should have a pretty good team this year. It was their first practice and they came out pretty intense. They really got after it and had a good practice."

JH: Who was your host?

CB: "Bobby Maze was my host. He showed me around and we hung out."

JH: Do the Sooners have a legitimate chance to sign you?

CB: "Yes, they do."

JH: Do you have a favorite?

CB: "I don't have a favorite at this point. It is down to Oklahoma, Kentucky and Georgia."

JH: When are you going to announce?

CB: "I am going to announce on Thursday."

JH: You are going to announce on Thursday and you are still considering all three schools?

CB: "I am still considering all three."

JH: What are your thoughts on each of the schools you are still considering?

CB: "I think Kentucky is a nice school and they have a great tradition. I like coach Tubby Smith and Kentucky should have a great team this year. Georgia is also a good school and they should have a better team this year than they did last year. Oklahoma has a new coach in Jeff Capel and he was a great player under Coach K at Duke. I think he will come in and work to get the Oklahoma level where the Duke program is."

JH: What are some of the key things that you are considering in making a decision?

CB: "I want to go to a school where I can get my degree and graduate. I also want to play for a school that is a contender to win the National Championship. I am not concerned about the depth or depth chat at my position. Distance is not a factor. I still have a lot to consider. I hope to talk to the coaches from all three schools before I announce on Thursday."
