Recruting: "If I had to sign today..."

Dallas, Texas safety Christian Scott talks about his official visit to Norman.

Christian Scott, S, 6-0, 195, DALLAS (SKYLINE HS), TEXAS:

JH: What did you think of your visit to OU this weekend?

CS: "I had a lot of fun. I met most of the players and coaches and just had a great deal of fun. I felt real comfortable down there."

JH: Who did you hang out with on your trip?

CS: "I hung out with Lendy Holmes at his apartment. We watched television and then went to some parties and things."

JH: Did you get to see the campus much?

CS: "I loved the campus. The buildings are beautiful and seem real historic."

JH: What did you think of the game and the atmosphere?

CS: "It was an exciting game and the defense played with great pride and respect. The fans are great. They are behind OU 100 percent. You can tell they love their football team, and what they may not know is that that the team appreciates that.

"I thought the defense had a great game. They stuffed Colorado's run game and the secondary played lights out. I didn't pay attention to the offense much, but you can tell OU loves to run the football."

JH: Did you find yourself watching the game or the safety play on defense?

CS: "I did a little bit of both. They use their safeties a lot in different ways. They just don't use them in coverage, they use them at linebacker, for run supports, blitz them. They are always moving them around. I like how they use their safeties."

JH: Did your visit to OU enhance the Sooners chances of signing you?

CS: "Oh yeah. I do believe so."

JH: I am sure you met with Coach Stoops before you left, so can you tell us a little of what you talked about?

CS: "He was telling me that they just don't want me, but they need me. He was telling how they felt that my skills would fit in perfectly with what OU likes at safety. He told me about what he thought of Norman and the community, and how much he loved living in Norman. He said that he felt Norman was great place for a young man to grow up."

JH: Will Oklahoma be a school that you seriously consider from this point on?

CS: "Yeah, especially now that I have been to OU and I really liked it. I have not been to any other visits and I still have some to take, but I liked it a lot. If I had to sign today, I would sign with OU. But I haven't seen any other schools either."

JH: So the visit gave you a better impression of OU?

CS: "Yes, I do believe that."

JH: Have you set up any other visits yet?

CS: "I haven't set up one yet. I will probably take a visit to LSU, Florida State and Texas A&M. I might also go to Oklahoma State. I don't know when I can take these visits. It might have to be after my season, but I am going to check my schedule and see what I can take these visits."

JH: How is your season going?

CS: "We won 49-0 (last week) and we didn't score in the second half. It was 35-0 in the first quarter. I didn't get much action. On offense, they threw me one ball. My ankle is getting better and better and they are trying to save me for the playoffs. I kind of wanted to get it to see if he was OK, but I know it is pretty good right now."
