Oklahoma continued their series dominance over Missouri with a 26-10 win over the 23rd-ranked Tigers Saturday in Columbia.

The Sooners, who have now won 16 of the last 17 meetings between the two schools, ended Missouri's eight-game home winning streak and pushed their lead in the all-time series lead to 63-23-5.

Allen Patrick made Sooner fans forget about injured running back Adrian Peterson, at least for another week, with a 36-carry, 162-yard rushing peformance, while the defense forced four turnovers and held the Tigers' high-powered offensive attack to 23 points under their season average.

"Defensive discipline, the way we tackled, the effort, was just outstanding," said OU head coach Bob Stoops. "Across the board, we got the secondary and back covered so well.

"Offensively, just as pleased with how we ran the ball. I thought our line, tight ends, and fullbacks had an outstanding game being physical and running. And that sets up all those nice play-action passes. Where go get those opportunities for chunks and Paul (Thompson) did a great job there as well."

"Congratulations to Oklahoma, they played certainly good enough to win," said Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel. "They're a good football team. We're good enough, but you can't make the mistakes we made today. Obviously I'm pretty disappointed."

Missouri outgained Oklahoma 360-358, but the Sooners forced one fumble and picked off Tiger quarterback Chase Daniel three times. Daniel had only thrown three interceptions all season coming into today's game.

"They're a great team, we handed it to them today and they played tough and they deserved to win," Daniel said. "I don't question our effort whatsoever, we played our hearts out. It's hard to win when you have four turnovers, and you almost have five. I think we played a good game, but not good enough."

OU's defense, who came into the game tops in the Big 12 in total defense, has now given up just 19 points in their last three games.

In all, the Sooners picked up 21 first downs to the Tigers' 20 and outrushed them 231-76. Saturday's game also marked the first time this season Missouri has trailed at hafltime.

Senior quarterback Paul Thompson was also impressive, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another on an option-keeper. He completed 11 of his 19 passes for 127 yards passing and also finished with a season-high 28 rushing yards on six carries. Junior Jacob Gutierrez was solid in a backup role with 41 yards on 10 carries.

The Sooners, who are now 25-3 against against Big 12 North teams under Bob Stoops, improved to 6-2 overall and 3-1 in Big 12 play, while the Tigers fall to 7-2 and 3-2. Oklahoma heads to College Station next week for a Big 12 South Showdown against Texas A&M.
