Recruiting: Loadholt sees himself fitting in

Junior College offensive lineman Phil Loadholt talks about his official visit to Norman.

Phil Loadholt, OT, 6-9, 325, GARDEN CITY JC, KS:

JH: How are things going? Can we do a quick interview?

PL: "Right now, I have nothing abut time on my hands. My flight out of Oklahoma City left late and that caused me to miss my connections in Denver, so I have been sitting in the Denver Airport for three hours now. I should be leaving in about a half hour."

JH: What did you think of your visit to OU this weekend?

PL: "It went great. I enjoyed hanging out with the players and I enjoyed the Sooners getting a victory yesterday."

JH: What did you learn about OU that maybe you didn't know before?

PL: "I didn't know they had that many fans. I knew they had fans, but I didn't know they were that crazy about OU football. Man, they have some great fans. That is what I noticed most."

JH: Who was your host and what did you do?

PL: "Brandon Walker was my host. We got a lot of things accomplished. We just hung out and went to a couple of parties after the game. He did his best to take me around so that I could meet all the players. We had a real good time."

JH: When you came on your unofficial during the summer, didn't you get to meet many of the guys?

PL: "I knew Brandon and Duke, and a couple of other guys who I met this summer. I didn't know too many of them, but I had a chance to meet a lot of them this weekend."

JH: What did you think about the game and how well the offensive line played?

PL: "I thought they did a great job during the game. I thought they did a great job of protecting Paul Thompson. The O-Line blocked well and I think they great job."

JH: Did you evaluate how you might be able to fit in the O-line in the future?

PL: I definitely think I can fit in where Messner is playing (LT). I know they have some good offensive linemen already on campus, but I can't wait to see how I might be able to fit in like I think I can."

JH: Since you were already committed to OU, did you try to talk those who weren't committed into coming?

PL: "Yeah, I had a good time talking up Oklahoma to some of the other guys who where there but no committed. I had a good time talking to Jaivoria Burkes (Phoenix Moon Valley in Arizona), Matt Romine and Travis Lewis about committing. I think all those high school kids had a great time and are thinking seriously about signing with OU.

"I know Jaivorio and Matt still have a couple of visits to take, but they liked OU a lot and it wouldn't surprise me if they are playing with me at OU next year. There were also a couple of kids from Enid there who were already committed to OU and they seemed like great guys.
