Sooners beat Hawaii to win Marriott Classic

Paris twins combine for 32 points and 22 rebounds in No. 3 Oklahoma's 76-56 win over Hawaii.

It may only be November, but No. 3 Oklahoma will be returning to Norman with what they hope will be the first of several trophies this season.

Courtney Paris scored 18 points and grabbed 15 rebounds while her twin sister, Ashley Paris (pictured above), added 14 in her first start of the season as Oklahoma won the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic with a 76-56 win over Hawaii Saturday night in Honolulu.

The Rainbows led briefly, 2-0, but the Sooners quickly scored 11 unanswered points to regain the lead en route to a 33-21 halftime edge. Senior guard Chelsi Welch sparked the Sooners with 14 first-half points.

Oklahoma then broke the game open for good after halftime and led by as many as 26 in the second half with 4:48 to go.

Freshman Amanda Thompson joined the Paris twins and Welch in double figures with a career-high 11 points.

The Sooners only shot 43.5 percent from the field, but held Hawaii to 34.6 percent shooting while dominating them on the boards 48-30.

The Paris twins and Thompson each made the All-Tournament team, while Courtney took home MVP honors after averaging 21 points and 15.5 rebounds in two games.

With the win, Oklahoma improved to 3-0 on the year while the Rainbows fell to 1-1.

The Sooners will face a tough road test on Monday at No. 20 UCLA.
