Recruiting: A&M commit looking around?

DeSoto, Texas defensive end Von Miller talks about his season and interest in Oklahoma.

Von Miller, DE, 6-2, 211, DeSOTO, TEXAS:

JH: Are you guys still in the playoffs?

VM: "Yes, we are still playing. We have beaten L.D. Bell in the first round 52-10. Then we beat Grapevine last Saturday. We had them down by 21 and let them come back and on the last play it was a tied up. They gave the ball to their running back trying to run out the clock and our strong safety stripped and then ran it 65-yards for the winning score."

JH: How well are you playing in the playoffs?

MV: "I am playing real well. At this point in the season I don't have to do all the things that I have had to do during the year. Our defense is much better now and the players around me have improved a bunch, so I don't have to make all the plays on defense now. Against L.D. Bell I had three tackles, three deflected passes and three QB hurries. Against Grapevine, I know I made at least 10 tackles. I was all over the field against Grapevine.

JH: Who do you play this week?

VM: "We play Abilene High this weekend in Brownwood this Saturday at 2:00 PM."

JH: Are you still committed to Texas A&M?

VM: "Yes sir. I committed to Texas A&M because I felt, at the time that, it was the best place for me. Plus, Texas A&M is close to home and it would be easy for my parents, relatives and friends to come up and watch me play."

JH: Are you shutting down recruiting or are you planning to take more visits?

VM: "I plan on taking a few visits to Oklahoma, Florida and Ole Miss."

JH: Would you say your commitment to Texas A&M is a soft commitment at this time?

VM: "To me, a commitment is a commitment and I say I am going to go there. But there are always circumstances that could come up and force me to change. You can't just change your decision for no reason, but I do want to make sure I am making the right decision. Right now I feel I am going to Texas A&M, but if there is something that I obviously missed and I have really made a mistake, then I will have to be ready to go to another school. Right now I am solid on my choice to Texas A&M."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this time?

VM: "Oklahoma is one of the best schools that you can go to and play for. It is a great school to participate in athletics. I was talking to Coach (Chris) Wilson and we were talking about Oklahoma and what I could do there. He said I could come in and make an impact and have success. I know that I can do well at Oklahoma."
