Tyler Stradford, WR, 6'2, 170, 4.4, NEW ORLEANS (O PERRY WALKER), LA:
JH: What did you tell Oklahoma when you left today?
TS: "I told them I wanted to be a Sooner.
JH: What led you to commit to OU?
TS: "I hung around their players the whole weekend, especially Chris Brown. He told me how the coaches and the community look out for you. He said there is always excitement surrounding the football program. He said there is no way you can fail academically because their academic program has a lot of tutors and programs available to help you out. He said they have enough computers that you can get one any time. He said the academic department helps you get good grades."
JH: What did you think of your visit?
TS: "It was great. It was a good experience for me."
JH: What did you learn about OU that you didn't know before?
TS: "I didn't realize that OU had such a good academic program and that they had gone to as many bowl games as they had."
JH: What did you learn about the offense, the wide receiver situation and how you might fit into the offense?
TS: "The way they run their routes is the same way that I run my routes in high school. Coach (Kevin) Sumlin said that he knew that I could come in and play with these guys."
JH: How many years were you a starter at Walker High School and what are your stats?
TS: "I started for three years. This past year I caught 41 passes for 621 yards and six touchdowns. My junior year I caught 31 passes for 530 yards and eight touchdowns. I also returned eight punts for 196 yards. I wasn't able to break one for a touchdown or anything. I also played cornerback and made 24 tackles, six break-ups and three picks."
JH: What other sports do you play?
TS: "I run track. I run the 100 (10.61), 200 (22.0), 4 X 200 and 4 X 400.
JH: What have your family, friends and coaches said about your decision?
TS: "They were happy for me and said they were finally happy that I made a decision."
JH: Who else offered you?
TS: "Tulsa, Connecticut, Memphis, Grambling and Nichols State."
JH: What other schools did you consider and who did you pick OU over?
TS: "Southern Miss, Miami, Nebraska and Oklahoma."
JH: Who else have you visited at this point?
TS: "Nobody. That was my first visit."
JH: Are you going to take any other visits?
TS: "I set up a visit to Southern Miss. I am probably going to Florida State and I have set a visit to Louisiana Tech just before the weekend. I am going to Southern Miss on January 19th. I haven't set the date up yet with Florida State. I am going to Louisiana Tech on January 12th."
JH: Are you going to take all your visits?
TS: "Yes, I am going to take the last three visits that I have set."
