The Oklahoma Sooners went through a one and a half hour workout today in shorts, helmets and shoulder pads. The Sooners worked strictly on team assignments.
For much of their practice they worked on their own assignments offensively and defensively, and then for a little more than a third of the practice they worked against their opponents offense and defense.
KeJuan Jones split time with Quentin Griffin with on first offense and worked in the short-yardage drills. It continues to look like Jones will be the second running back for OU. Renaldo Works ran with the second unit, but never took snaps with the first until until the Sooners went to the two-back set and he joined 'Q'.
OT Jerod Fields returned to workouts, but worked with the scout team today. Davin Joseph worked with the second unit at LG. The OU coaching staff hopes that Joseph can come far enough at LG so that they can afford to also play starting LG Brad Davis as the backup center. Kelvin Chaisson is also in the loop at LG as well.
OU still wants to redshirt Abner Estrada, but a lot will depend if they can create more depth at LG and if Chris Bush can come on as a center.
Tommie Harris, Dusty Dvoracek and Pasha Jackson all went through practice today. Brandon Everage will return to drills on Sunday. Michael Thompsoncontinues to work at FS in his place.
Brandon Jones and Will Peoples received extended time with the first unit with Mark Clayton out, and both looked good, but they didn't face any real resistance.
QB Brent Rawls returned to Norman today, but left practice early because he didn't feel well.
