The Matchup
Oklahoma will put the nation's longest regular season winning streak on the line against, ironically enough, the last team to beat them in the regular season in Ohio State.

The Sooners and Buckeyes tangled last year in a classic matchup in Columbus. Ohio State won the game, 75-71, but Courtney Paris officially put her name on the college basketball map outdueling Buckeye All-American center Jessica Davenport.

Paris scored 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Davenport added just 14 points and three boards. However, Davenport, a two-time Big 10 Player of the year who stands at 6-foot-5, hit the game-winning shot with 3.4 seconds left.

This year, the Buckeyes come into the game the lower-ranked team and with a 9-1 record. Their lone loss came on Dec. 10 against No. 9 LSU, 75-71, in Baton Rouge.

OU Game Notes | Ohio State Game Notes

Sherri Coale on Ohio State
"We're excited about it. I think our guys have been looking forward to it this for a long, long time. They've done a great job taking care of their day to day business knowing that this is out there, but I know that they've been shooting for it.

"That's what great players, great competitors and special teams do. They look forward to being challenged. I think everybody is excited about this game. I think it's a great way to send us off into the Christmas holiday and to let us know everything we need to know about our team before we go play in conference.

"I think it (last year's game vs. Ohio State) was maybe Courtney's coming out party on a national level. Everybody had kind of heard about her, but said we'll wait until we pit her against what is supposedly the best center in the country.

"I think Jessica Davenport sort of held that title (best center) at that point in time until we played, and that got the nation's attention. This game maybe is a continuation of that a little bit — that maybe the weight has moved a little bit and it's can Jessica Davenport play with Courtney Paris instead of can Courtney play with Jessica.

"I think Leah is a problem for them (Ohio State). I think she is a problem for a lot of people and it maybe that doesn't get talked about enough.

"They had a kid last year, who guarded Courtney a great deal of the time and gave us some trouble on offense as well, that graduated. I think they're going to miss her in this matchup. Personally, just watching film I think she was key for them and maybe was an answer for Leah.

"Marscilla Packer can shoot the basketball. She didn't shoot it well against LSU in Ohio State's only loss. I think she was 1-of-7. Other than that, she shoots it about 50 or 60 percent from the three. We don't want to let her catch it and shoot it, we want to make her put it on the floor. She's deadly.

"Brandie Hoskins is just a great basketball player. She doesn't really fit in the hole anywhere, she's just a great player. She can shoot it, she can get to the rim, she can pass it.

"Those guys are their three. I think great teams have to have at least three. Marscilla Packer, Brandie Hoskins and Jessica Davenport are their three. There's no doubt about that. I think though that we might have more than three, so I like those odds.
