Recruiting: OU in Louisiana DE's top three

The latest on Baton Rouge, La. defensive end Frank Alexander.

Frank Alexander, DE, 6-3, 241, BATON ROUGE (SOUTHERN LAB) LA:

JH: How did you do in your recent all-star game?

FA: "I played in the East/West All-Star game in Orlando, Fla. I started and finished the game with three sacks and three other tackles. I got hoarse during the game I was yelling and screaming so much, but I am pretty happy with how I played. I missed one tackle for loss because I overpursued on the play, but for the most part I was happy with how I played."

JH: How did if feel to just be a part of that game?

FA: "It felt real good to play in that game. It felt like I was in college instead of high school. It was a real good experience. I got to meet a lot of great people and a lot of people that I have heard about and watched from a far. It was great to meet those people and I had a great time."

JH: While in Orlando did you get to see some of the sights and eat some good food?

FA: "We didn't get to go to Universal Studios, but we did get see some of the tourist stops in Florida. So, I did get to see the sights. We didn't eat lobster or steaks all the time, but we ate well and I was never hungry."

JH: What is the latest in recruiting?

FA: "Right now I don't know. The new coach at Miami wants us to come up there and check them out during Super Bowl weekend. I have always been interested in Miami, but when they had their coaching change I didn't know what to think. Now with Coach Shannon up there, he wants us to come up there and I think we will do that."

JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this point?

FA: "They are still high on my list. I am just trying to see what else is out there and to see what the other people have to offer."

JH: So how does your recruiting stack up at this point?

FA: "My top three schools are Oklahoma, Auburn and Miami. I have already visited Oklahoma and Auburn, and I still have to visit Miami. I have five official visits that I can take and I just want to get all the information that I can get. Like Coach (Chris) Wilson says, I need to go to a school where I feel good about it. If I didn't play football there after four years, would I still feel good about going to school there? I have a good feeling about Oklahoma in that regard, but I want to compare them to the other schools.

JH: How important is early playing time for you?

FA: "I want to get on the field. There is no question about it."

JH: Do you have a favorite at this time?

FA: "No, not right now."

JH: How is your basketball season going?

FA: "It is going good, but I missed two games when I was in Florida. I am averaging 22 points a game and I am looking forward to getting back out there."
