Recruiting: OU commit taking visits?

New Orleans, La. wide receiver Tyler Stradford talks about the status of his commitment to Oklahoma.

Tyler Stradford, WR, 6-3, 180, NEW ORLEANS (O. PERRY WALKER) LOUISIANA:

JH: What is your status of your commitment to Oklahoma since we last talked?

TS: "I am committed to Oklahoma, but I am going to Southern Miss this Friday. Oklahoma doesn't have to worry about Southern Miss. Then I might take another visit next week just so that I can have a back-up plan in case Oklahoma pulls their scholarship or something. I am not trying to put anybody in their place or anything, but I have to be ready just in case something bad happens. OU shouldn't be worried about nothing. I am sure Southern Miss doesn't have anything on them."

JH: Are you really worried about OU pulling your scholarship?

TS: "No, I don't think they will but you always have to have a back-up plan for everything. This is my chance to go to college and I want to make sure I have a scholarship. Like I said, I am not trying to put anybody in their place or anything."

JH: Who are you considering visiting next week?

TS: "I don't know yet. Alabama has called and Oklahoma State has called. I might still have to go on a visit to Louisiana Tech because I cancelled that one. But I don't think I am going to go there. It will probably be Alabama or Oklahoma State."

JH: Have you been talking with OU a lot since you committed to them?

TS: "Yes, we have been keeping in touch and they are supposed to be coming in on a home visit this Thursday. Coach Stoops and Coach Sumlin are coming in and I am looking forward to that."

JH: How are people in your part of the country responding to the fact that you have committed to Oklahoma?

TS: "They are happy for me and all. I told them that I was going to take it one day at a time and that Oklahoma was a place where I really want to be at."

JH: Are you converting some of your friends and family in Louisiana to Oklahoma fans?

TS: "I don't know about them, but I know that I am one. They are going to be Oklahoma fans though."

JH: How is track practice going for you?

TS: "I am getting ready for that indoor state meet. I am running the 55M, 200M and the 4X200."

JH: What are you times in track right now?

TS: "In the 55M, I am running a 6.8. In the 200M, I am running a 22.0. Then in the 4X200, I am running the anchor leg."
