Donald Stephenson, OL, 6-7, 275, BLUE SPRINGS, MISSOURI:
JH: What is the latest in your recruiting?
DS: "Yesterday, Coach Mangino came in and talked to me. And today Nebraska came in even after I had told them that I wasn't considering them any more. The Nebraska coach still came by the school to talk to me and he was trying to convince me to reconsider going to their school. He did say some things that I need to think about. He said that Coach (Bill) Callahan is going to come up on Monday, but I don't know if I am going to wait on him or go ahead and make my decision before that."
JH: What did Nebraska say to you that has you reconsidering Nebraska again?
DS: "I really didn't want to get rid of them in the first place, but it is just the fact that knew that I needed to start trimming down my choices. So, Nebraska is who I chose to get rid of. I really didn't want to, but I felt it was something that I had to do.
"The Nebraska coach told me that I still had time to sit on it and wait. He said to not discount anybody right now. He said if I feel highly of them to keep them in mind and not to discard them right now. I kind of thought about that and I decided that I still have enough time to sit on it and wait, but I am still not going to wait too long. He said that Nebraska was basically done recruiting and that they were just waiting on me. He said they were holding it up for me."
JH: How did your visit go with coach Mangino?
DS: "It went real well. He came out here and talked to my mom for a while, and they had a good talk. He was telling my mom about how long of a relationship I have had with the KU coaches and we have gotten to know each other real well. It was a good talk."
JH: When is the next time you are going to talk with Oklahoma?
DS: "Coach (James) Patton is coming by tomorrow to see me and my mom. He is coming around 2:00 or 2:30."
JH: Are you still thinking that you might announce something tomorrow?
DS: "No, I am not feeling it right now. But I know I really want to get it done before this weekend. People are telling me to slow it down and to just think about everything, but it is getting around the time that I need to make a decision."
JH: What are your thoughts on Oklahoma at this point?
DS: "They are still one of my top two teams. I don't know if it was just because of the visit, but usually after a day or so I don't feel the same way that I felt about them coming right off the visit. But I still feel very strong about them. It wasn't just the hype of the visit. My feelings on Oklahoma are more genuine than that."
JH: So what are your final thoughts on recruiting?
DS: "I am feeling a lot of pressure. I know I need to make a decision as soon as I can. It is not going to go outside OU, KU or Nebraska, and maybe not even outside OU and KU. It is those teams right there and I need to figure out what I am going to do. I don't have a favorite right now, but I wish I did."
