Recruiting: Sooners get good news

New Orleans, La. offensive lineman Alex Williams is a Sooner. See inside for more details.

Oklahoma's last offensive line target this year, New Orleans, La. tackle Alex Williams (6-6 / 300 / 5.1), officially committed to Oklahoma this morning at 9:27 a.m. Oklahoma time during a radio interview with James Hale on WWLS, The Sports Animal.

Willaims, who was displaced by Katrina last year, was an early verbal to Ole Miss but suddenly burst on the recruiting scene in a big way after a stellar senior season garnering interest from Alabama, Florida State, Michigan State and other top programs.

Williams said that teammate Tyler Stradford's decision to attend OU did not really effect his choice, but it was a positive. Stradford said that when it came down to it, he also had to make a decision that was best for him, but with Williams going to OU it was even better.

Stradford said that he can run a 10.5 100 and said that he expects to be the fastest player on OU's roster when he arrives, or at least the second fastest.

We will have a transcript of Williams' WWLS interview posted later today.
