Norman, Okla. — Oklahoma moved into sole possession of fifth place in the Big 12 standings Wednesday night with a 67-60 Bedlam win over No. 17 Oklahoma State.

Nate Carter led the way with 18 points, including 10 in the final nine minutes as the Sooners pulled away from the Cowboys (18-5, 4-4) to improve to 14-8 overall and 5-4 in Big 12 play.

Oklahoma State's last lead was 52-51 at the 9:17 mark but the Sooners, who led 30-20 to start the second half, regained control of the game with an 8-0 run (four by Carter) over the next three minutes. The Sooners then hit seven of their eight free throw attempts down the stretch to seal the win.

Joining Carter in double figures was center Longar Longar and point guard Austin Johnson. Longar finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and four blocks, while Johnson added 10 points and five assists to just one turnover.

Back to Carter, the senior from San Diego posted a team-high nine rebounds along with four assists and three steals. And he has now scored in double figures in each of the Sooners' nine Big 12 games this season.

Oklahoma also took care of business at the free throw line hitting 84 percent (16-of-19) of their attempts to OSU's 36 percent (6-of-14).

The Sooners, who extended their lead in the Bedlam series to 122-88, will hit the road Saturday for a Big 12 South matchup against Baylor. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
