Oklahoma kept their regular season Big 12 title hopes alive with a 76-70 win over a pesky Kansas team Wednesday night in Lawrence.
The Jayhawks, who came into the matchup in last place in the Big 12 standings, gave the 11th-ranked Sooners all they could handle. The game was tied at 57-57 with 5:24 to go, but that's when Courtney Paris and the Sooners slowly began to pull away.
Paris, who recorded her 53rd-straight double-double with 32 points and 13 rebounds, scored 19 second-half points, including eight in the final 5:24.
Britney Brown, Erin Higgins, Amanda Thompson and Ashley Paris also contributed key buckets down the stretch, and freshman point guard Jenna Plumley hit three free throws in the final minute to seal the win.
In all, the lead changed hands 21 times and the game was tied on nine different ocassions.
Joining Paris in double figures was her sister, Ashley, with 16 and senior Britney Brown with 14 off the bench.
With the win, the Sooners improved to 21-4 overall and 11-3 in Big 12 play. Heading into this weekend's games, they are still in a three-way tie for first place with Baylor and Texas A&M.
The Sooners will return to the Lloyd Noble Center Sunday for a 2 p.m. matchup against Missouri.
