Recruiting: Sooners offer first QB prospect

Find out inside what Artesia, N.M. quarterback Landry Jones thought about his offer from Oklahoma and visit to Norman.

Landry Jones, QB, 6-5, 215, ARTESIA, NEW MEXICO:

JH: You didn't know if you could make it to Norman or not this weekend because of your basketball was playing in the playoffs. So what happened in basketball?

LJ: "Basketball is over because we lost in the semifinals. We just really played horribly, but I give credit to Capital too. They are a good team and they were a better team that day."

JH: How did you play in the game?

LJ: "I played so-so. I think I had 12 points maybe."

JH: That loss allowed you and your family to take in Junior Day this weekend in Norman. What did you think of your visit this weekend?

LJ: "I really liked it. I liked all the coaches and the atmosphere surrounding the team. They have a lot of good athletes up at OU and I liked it a lot."

JH: I know you have been to Norman for their football camps in the past, so what did you learn about OU that you didn't know before?

LJ: "We learned a lot about the academic stuff and the tutoring program that they have. They provide all the academic help you can get."

JH: Did you watch practice at all?

LJ: "I actually got to watch practice on Friday and Saturday. I liked Coach (Josh) Heupel and his style of coaching. He will chew you out when he needs to, but he is also there with an atta-boy when it is deserved. He is a good coach and a great guy."

JH: What is your take on Oklahoma now that you have been to Junior Day?

LJ: "I like Oklahoma a lot. I could really see myself going there."

JH: Did Oklahoma offer you this weekend?

LJ: "Yes sir."

JH: What did you think of that news?

LJ: "I was really flattered. I mean, you don't get a chance to get an offer from Oklahoma very often. It was awesome and I really liked it."

JH: How did you OU give you the news?

LJ: "Coach (Bob) Stoops pulled me and my parents into his office and told us how it was."

JH: Did you consider committing to OU?

LJ: I am really considering it right now. I have one more trip to make out to Colorado, but after that I think I will probably make my decision."

JH: When are you going to Colorado?

LJ: "I am going after spring break which is not this week, but the next week."

JH: Who besides Oklahoma are you considering at this time?

LJ: "I am considering OU, Colorado, UCLA, Oregon, Wisconsin, Iowa, Virginia and Kansas State."
