LEWIS BAKER, LB, 6-3, 205, 4.5, HEBRON, TEXAS:
JH: How is your season going?
LB: "We are 2-1 on the year and in my first game I had 18 tackles. I had seven solos, 11 assisted and I had a 35-yard touchdown catch at tight end. We lost the first game 7-6 against Grapevine. We beat ourselves as we had over 100 yards in penalties and missed field goals and extra points.
In the second game we went to Mineral Wells and beat them 47-0. I had nine tackles in that game and had a 65-yard touchdown catch.
In the third game against Newman Smith I had six solo and one assist, but I got hurt in that game. I had a stinger, as I put my head down running the ball from the slot and I got hit wrong and hit stretched some nerves bad. I don't know if I will play this weekend against Birdville, but I hope to."
JH: It sounds like you are having a great season at tight end?
LB: "I am. We go a lot of four wides and I get a chance to line up in the slot. I knew that I could be one of the go-to-guys at tight end or in the slot. I can catch the ball pretty well, but I didn't know that we would throw the ball that much. We usually run the ball a lot more than we throw it."
JH: How is recruiting going?
LB: "It is going pretty good. I have been getting a ton of phone calls, but I have been getting home late from practice and haven't been able to talk to many of them. I haven't been able to set up any official visits yet, but I am close to setting up one with Notre Dame (12-6). I hope we are still in the playoffs at that time and we may have to reschedule. I hope to visit Vanderbilt in early January and I am talking to OU about setting up a visit with them. When I visit OU is totally up them. I am just waiting for them to give me a date."
JH: Are you planning to come up to OU soon?
"I was going to come up for the South Florida, but I am not sure about that now. My dad is in town and I haven't seen in over a year. I will have to see what he wants to do."
JH: Are you still strong on Oklahoma?
LB: "I really like Oklahoma a lot. I love their coaches and love their defense. I am definitely going to take an official visit there. I really like Coach Venables and feel like he is a great guy. Coach Venables is a just like a regular guy. If you just met him off the street you wouldn't know he was the Co-Defensive Coordinator at OU or the linebacker coach. He has a great sense of humor and he is always fired up."
