Decision Coming Sunday for Hill

While his teammate Brandon Beachum has already eliminated the Sooners, Taylor Hill has them sitting alongside LSU and West Virginia in his top three and will make his college intentions known on Sunday afternoon at a press conference. We caught up with Hill recently to discuss his final three schools and it looks like Oklahoma is in good shape.

When we last spoke to Youngstown, Ohio native Taylor Hill he had plans to visit Norman, however that trip never came to fruition. On Sunday afternoon, he and his teammate Brandon Beachum will announce their college choices together and this 6-foot-2, 205-pound outside linebacker will be picking between Oklahoma, LSU and West Virginia. Hill took some time to talk about his final three with recently and it seems like one may be ahead of the pack.

"I like a lot about Oklahoma as a football program," Hill said. "They are always on top of things and win a lot of games and just have a great tradition there. Their defensive scheme is also very similar to what we run at Cardinal Mooney, so I don't feel like I would have as tough as a transition there as I would at other schools. I think I would fit right in at strong side linebacker and with some hard work could earn early playing time which would be great."

"The coaching staff is also great at Oklahoma and after doing some research, I found that they do have the academic qualities I am looking for," Hill added. "They offer a very good education, especially in their business program which I am looking to major in and I feel that I would be in good hands there. Head Coach (Bob) Stoops has Youngstown ties and has been cool when I spoke with him and I also really get along with Coach (Brent) Venables who is my recruiter. He is a really easy-going guy and relates well with people my age, so we have gotten really close over the whole recruiting period."

When we last spoke with Hill in early July, he stated that Oklahoma and LSU were his top two, however recently West Virginia has also stepped into the mix for his linebacker.

"West Virginia just offered me within the last month here and I know that they have a really good program," Hill stated. "Other then that I really have not researched them too much to be honest with you, but I do know they have a good team every year."

"With LSU you have Coach (Bo) Pelini who also has ties to Youngstown just like Coach Stoops does," Hill explained. "Coach Pelini is a really nice guy and LSU is good every year and plays in the SEC which is a great conference."

After talking to Hill three weeks ago it seemed as though the Sooner held a firm lead for his services and that is still definitely the vibe you get when talking to him, however nothing is ever certain in recruiting. Whichever program wins out for his services in the end will be getting a quality linebacker prospect that collected 98 tackles and 12 sacks last season for Cardinal Mooney High School.
