Gasso still looking to fill void left by shortstop Kelli Braitsch

The Nationally Ranked Oklahoma Women's Softball team is having a banner recruiting year.

Their top priority is replcaing All-American shortstop Kelli Braitsch, who will graduate after this season.

In an effort to replace Braitsch, Head Coach Patty Gasso has gone out and earned a verbal from four top line shortstops. Of course shortstops are such good athletes that whoever doesn't end up winning the job next year will be moved to other positions.

Thus far the Sooners have verbals from Amber Spauding of Fontana, Californnia; Alician Horn from Fayetteville, Arkansas; Stacie Alaman of Mustang, OK: and Amada Carey of Topeka, Kansas. Carey is the younger sister of former Sooner great Lisa Carey.

All four prospects are considered elite players and were heavily recruited.

The Sooners are still on the top shortstop in the country in Christie Fox of San Diego, California. OU, Arizona, California and UCLA are battling for her services.
