The Oklahoma baseball team earned a big-time verbal today from the Texas Player of the Year.
Left-handed pitcher Charles Benoit (6-3, 200) of Southlake Carroll, Texas earned the honor of player of the year as a junior. Considered a complete pitcher, Benoit is always throwing a 91 mile-per-hour fastball. Benoit turned down offers from Baylor, Texas, Arizona and Arkansas to commit to the Sooners.
Benoit will be a high draft, but he is in a similiar situation that David Purcey was in. Benoit's parents are very successful and they want their son to get a college education. Even if he is offered over a million dollars Benoit's parents will promise that to him if he is injured at OU, because they want him to go to college.
