LEAH RUSH, PF, 6'1, AMARILLO, TEXAS:
JH: You committed to Oklahoma this weekend, why did you choose the Sooners?
LR: "Oklahoma has always been a school that I have considered. At the beginning of the recruiting process Oklahoma and Texas Tech were my two favorite schools and it ended up that way as well. OU has a beautiful campus, great girls on the team and super coaching staff. I feel that the program is one of the up and coming programs in the country. I just wanted to be a part of the continued growth of the program."
JH: Was it a tough decision?
LR: "Yes, it was a definitely. It was one of the toughtest decisions that I have ever had to make. I have a ton of respect for coach Sharp and the great program that she has built. Both OU and Texas Tech have great programs and I waited as long as I could before making a decision. I just felt in the end that OU was the best fit for me."
JH: What were your statistics last season?
LR: "I averaged about 17 points and 10 rebounds per game. That is an average, because I really don't keep up with that stuff. I think I averaged about three blocks per game and two steals as well. I think those numbers would be a pretty good guess."
JH: Describe your style of play?
LR: "I think I am pretty athletic for my size. I can get up and down the court pretty well. I can play with the big players, yet run with the smaller players. I can bang inside, but move outside and play the guard position. I would say that I am a versatile player and that I could play different positions depending on the situation. I have confidence in my shooting. At school I play center, because I am the biggest player on our team. In AAU ball I play outside some and I think in college I will play outside some. I think I can play outside for sure. I have been working on that a lot this offseason, because I wasn't sure if I would have to move outside in college."
JH: Do you have an outside game and what are your favorite moves on the block?
LR: "I can shoot the three, but I don't get the chance so much with the teams that I have played with thus far. My favorite shot is the free throw. No, I am just kidding. I don't really know about a favorite shot, but I have several outstanding low post moves that I like to use and I can hit the medium range jumper."
JH: OU loves to run ,so how will you fit into their style of play?
LR: "I love to run. One of the biggest parts of all the teams that I have been on is the fast break aspect of our offense. I look forward to that at Oklahoma."
