RECRUITING: Colleyville punter likes OU

Colleyville, Texas punter Geoffrey Price would likely jump on an Oklahoma offer

Price has punted his way onto the national lists, but he is also a fantastic athlete who starts at free safety. Price is punting for his second season and he has been a two-year starter on defense.

Last season Price averaged 45.7 yards per punt and this season he is banging the ball at a 45-yard per punt clip. However, Price has only punted the ball twice, because of a sprained ankle. He is back kicking again, but the ankle is still bothering him and he is kicking with a brace on his kicking foot.

Price plays free safety well enough that Air Force, Rice and many other Ivy League schools are talking to him about also playing defense. He has 56 tackles thus far on the season.

"Notre Dame, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Illinois are talking to me about punting only and that is OK with me," said Price. "The others schools want me to do both. I am just looking to get a scholarship that will pay for my college education."

"I really like those first three schools, but I am keeping my options open because nobody has offered me scholarship yet. All of them say that they will probably do that last when they figure out how many scholarships they have at the end. Whoever does offer me a scholarship will probably sign me."

Price had a chance to visit Norman unoffically recently.

"I went to Oklahoma for the South Florida game and really enjoyed myself. I got a chance to be on the field and go into the locker room afterwards, and that was pretty neat. It was a great atmosphere and I would really like to play there."

Price will watch the Sooners this weekend at the Cotton Bowl. He has qualified.
