JUCO Safety Says Decision Coming Soon

Junior college safety has committed to Mississippi, is considering Oklahoma and has recently been courted by Florida State. In other words, he's got some thinking to do. Thomas was floored when he met Bob Stoops during his visit to the Sooner State in October. He said then he may be close to committing to OU. Is he any closer today?

Junior college safety Daniel Thomas said Tuesday night that he could make his decision within the next week.

Thomas, who just wrapped up his career at Northwest Mississippi Community College, has been mulling an offer from Oklahoma for a couple months now.

He's currently committed to Ole Miss, but has shown considerable interest in the Sooners.

He made an official visit to Oklahoma in early October when the Sooners beat Missouri.

"I definitely see OU as a place I can play," he said after the visit.

Since then, Florida State has picked up its interest in him as well.

However, later in October, Thomas told Sooners Illustrated he was leaning toward the Sooners.

"About the only thing holding me back," he said, "is telling the Ole Miss coaches."

However, Thomas has yet to make his decision.

The Hilliard (Fla.) High School product is currently back home in the Sunshine State for the Thanksgiving holiday.

For now, he's going to enjoy his break, but his decision is imminent.

"I think I'll decide when I get back to school on Tuesday, so I'll let you know."

Thomas played quarterback and free safety for NWMCC. The Sooners are recruiting him for the defensive backfield.
