Walker Does His Own Recruiting on Visit

Casey Walker was one of several Oklahoma commitments in Norman this past weekend. Also in town were three players high on OU's wish list. Walker and the rest of their crew did some arm twisting. How hard did they twist and did it work? Walker gives Sooners Illustrated his opinion...

Casey Walker knows where he's going to college. He spent the weekend trying to help others make up their mind.

Walker, a defensive tackle from Garland (Texas) High, made his official visit to the University of Oklahoma this past weekend.

This visit, however, was merely a formality to Walker, who committed to Oklahoma in June. He was one of several Sooner commitments on campus for the weekend.

But there were also three people on campus who haven't committed: Linebacker J.R. Bryant, wide receiver Jameel Owens and defensive end Stacey McGee.

All three are high on Oklahoma's wish list and all three are seriously considering the Sooners.

So did Walker try to help bolster his own signing class by recruiting anyone?

"Yeah," he said. "J.R. the linebacker and Owens the receiver."

When asked if he thinks he and the rest of the crew made an impression, Walker made a bold statement.

"I think both of them are going to commit," he said.

That was quite the statement, he was informed. Was he sure?

"Yeah," he said, simply.

Walker said he spent most of his weekend with current Sooner defensive tackle Demarcus Granger.

"It was really good," said the three-star recruit. "I really enjoyed myself."
