The verdict is in. It's Oklahoma, not Miami, who is No. 1.

According the first BCS Poll released on Monday, Oklahoma edged out unbeatens Miami, Notre Dame, Virginia Tech, Georgia and Ohio State for the top spot in the only poll that counts.

The top two ranked teams in the BCS poll at the end of the season will earn berth's to the national championship game at the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3.

If the season ended today, it would be the Sooners and Hurricanes who would battle for the Sears Trophy. As it is, if the Sooners take care of business the rest of the season they are virtually guaranteed a spot in the BCS title game.
