RECRUITING: Center picks Sooners

Kelvin Sampson's Oklahoma basketball team picked up their fourth top 100 commitment on Tuesday

Longar Longar, a 6-10 from Rochester, Minn. committed to the Oklahoma Sooners Tuesday evening. Longar is good friends with guard fellow Minnesota guard Lawrence McKenzie, who committed to the Sooners earlier this summer.

Longar is from Sudan and has only played organzied basketball for two years. He averaged 14 points and 12 rebounds last season and he raised his point total to 22 ppg in summer basketball.

"I like the coaches and players. They really treated me just like family," said Longar shortly after his visit to Norman.

"I loved the new facilities and the college seems to be a great institution where I can get a great education."

Longar still needs to qualify, but he is doing everything possible to get that done and the odds are he will make it.

Longar will sign next month along with Minneapolis guard Lawrence McKenzie and Columbus, Ohio teammates Andrew Lavender and Brandon Foust.
