Coach Confirms Harris' Commitment

It's been widely considered that Gilmer, Texas, defensive back Lamar Harris would join high school teammate Justin Johnson at Oklahoma. However, his camp has been mostly mum about it until Tuesday when Gilmer coach Jeff Traylor told Sooners Illustrated that Lamar Harris will be a Sooner.

One of the worst-kept secrets the past few weeks is that Lamar Harris would becoming an Oklahoma Sooner on National Signing Day.

However, most people have kept quiet on the subject...until Tuesday, that is.

Sooners Illustrated spoke with Harris' Gilmer High School (Texas) coach Jeff Traylor.

The discussion was actually about Justin Johnson, a five-star running back who's already on campus in Norman.

"He's a great kid and you all are really going to enjoy him," Traylor said of Johnson.

"And you all are also getting Lamar Harris," he continued. "He's a big ol' good-looking athlete who's going to play cornerback for you."

Harris (6-0, 170) is a three-star prospect who is expected to help fill a void left by the likes of Reggie Smith and Marcus Walker, among others.

"He's a very sweet spirit and a very coachable kid," Traylor said. "I think you're going to love both of them."
